Key Verse:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

Devotional:
Burnout doesn’t always start with a breakdown.
Sometimes, it sneaks in slowly—through overloaded schedules, constant striving, and the quiet belief that rest is earned, not given.

But Jesus tells a different story.

In Matthew 11:28, He invites the weary and burdened—not the strong, the successful, or the ones who have it all together—to come to Him. He doesn’t say, “Work harder, then I’ll help you.” He says, “Come to Me…and I will give you rest.”

This isn’t just about sleep (though that matters, too). It’s about soul-rest. The kind that restores your joy, re-centers your heart, and reminds you that your worth is not in what you produce but in who you belong to.

You were never meant to carry it all.
You were never meant to be it all.
Even Jesus rested.
So why do we think we can go without it?

God’s invitation today is not to push through—it’s to pause. Not because you’ve finished everything, but because He’s enough, even when you’re not.

Reflection & Prayer Prompt:

  • Where have you been feeling worn out—physically, emotionally, or spiritually?

  • Have you believed the lie that rest must be earned?

  • What would it look like to build intentional rhythms of rest into your life this week?

Faith in Action:
Journal: List what’s draining you right now. Then ask, “Which of these am I carrying alone?”
Rest on Purpose: Schedule 30 minutes of true rest today—no guilt, no multitasking. Just stillness and space to breathe.
Check In: Reach out to a friend and ask how they’re really doing. Burnout often hides in silence.

Prayer:
God, I’m tired. Not just in my body—but in my soul. I’ve been running on empty, trying to keep up, and forgetting that You never asked me to carry all of this alone. Help me rest in Your love, not just physically but deeply, spiritually. Show me how to build a life that honors Your rhythm of grace—not hustle. Amen.
