Key Verse:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Devotional:
New seasons often come with mixed emotions—excitement, anxiety, hope, fear.
Whether it’s a move, a job change, a relationship shift, a new role, or even a new year—transition has a way of shaking our sense of stability.

That’s exactly where Joshua found himself in today’s verse. Moses, his leader and mentor, was gone. Joshua was being asked to lead an entire nation into unfamiliar territory. And God’s words to him weren’t about strategy—they were about presence.
“Do not be afraid…for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

God’s promise wasn’t that everything would be easy—it was that Joshua wouldn’t have to face it alone.
And the same is true for you.

Whatever transition you're walking through—or standing on the edge of—you don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to feel ready. You just have to keep moving with the One who goes before you.

God’s grace will meet you in the unfamiliar. His strength will carry you through what’s next. And His presence will steady you when everything else feels uncertain.

Reflection & Prayer Prompt:

  • What transition or change are you currently facing—or anticipating?

  • Are you focusing more on what’s unknown…or on who is going with you?

  • What would it look like to walk through this new season with courage and faith instead of fear?

Faith in Action:
Journal: Write a list of what feels uncertain about this transition—and beside each item, write: “God is with me here.”
Anchor Scripture: Memorize Joshua 1:9 this week. Let it be your steadying truth every time fear or doubt surfaces.
Encourage: Reach out to someone else in a new season and remind them: God hasn’t changed, even if everything else has.

Prayer:
God, You see the changes in front of me—the ones I chose and the ones I didn’t. Some days I feel ready, and some days I just feel afraid. Remind me that You go before me, beside me, and behind me. Give me courage to take the next step and peace to trust that Your grace will be enough for whatever comes next. Amen.
